INIBICO offers discounts on some Peruvian airlines (ask before traveling).  Ideal group size are 4 persons, but bigger groups up to 12 persons can be managed (group size usually depends on our vehicles used).  Groups which must await the national flight overnight are received at Lima airport by our city guide (speaks English, other multilingual guides can be contracted if advised at time), transferred to cheap hotels or private rooms, guided at night at Lima city (Miraflores tour) and picked up the next morning to reach the inland flight. All groups are received at our new Tarapoto airport and can use several types of hotels from very cheap to expensive class, according to financial resources of the groups (please ask INIBICO at time).

Flight and transportation

Tarapoto has daily flight connections to Lima and also Iquitos. For special expeditions, small airplanes are available (Lagunas, Contamana). Tents are provided by us, but sleeping mats, light sleeping bags and mosquito nets and a good headlamp must bring in each tourist. In high forest, mosquitoes are no problem, but in lowland forest during part of the year the protection is necessary and especially on river expeditions. Insect repellent is necessary against mosquitoes, gnats and chigger mites or ticks. The climate at Tarapoto and the ASPRAVEP field base at km 34 is fresh at night (17- 22ºC) to moderately hot at midday (24-32ºC). Inside the forest, the temperatures are at 24ºC.  In June/ July during the cold periods, a thin pullover and Anorak might be necessary- also when traveling at high altitudes (KUELAP expedition) or during rainy periods.

The Andean range (KUELAP ruins, 3050 m) might be chilly cold during June, July and August (8ºC!).
